Having seen the Poll question that we are currently posing about the pertinence of re-utilizing shipping containers in construction, Ben Leffler pointed us to an article that was published on their Blog, called Ship Happens, that addresses the issue.
The Article, entitled Living Inside the Box: Creative Eco-Friendly Design Using Shipping Container , talks about the environmental impact the shipping contaners are having and displays creative samples of projects recycling those enclosures and using them as high-end condos, office buildings, low-income housing, or even relief shelters.

In a related article, we featured Steven Holl's T-Husene Development project being currently built in Ørestaad, Denmark.
We are complementing that article with an interview with the Architect about his ideas on the project.
Q. How did you come up with the idea behind the Dancing T’s?
S.H. The process started with a period of several weeks in which I carefully studied the program, urban constraints, landscape, sunset, precious Scandinavian sky which was followed by a period of reflection. Then one morning I intuitively started to make sketches that were inspired by these studies and reflections.

In a lecture given in January 2007 at the the DLD (Digital Life Design) Conference, in Munich, Germany, Norman Foster talks about Sustainable Design and how the principle of sustainability were applied in some of his projects.
Recently published at TED, the lecture is quite insightful . It is interesting to see how the embryonic ideas about sustainability were emerging in the 70s and how the architect implemented in his earlier projects. He also describes how current computer technologies are being utilized for the enhancement of design in more recent projects.
