Projects to Focus on Transformations in the Built Environment Within Dynamically Changing Societies
This November, Rafael Viñoly Architects will award up to five grants of US$60,000 each for studies focused on transformations in the built environment within dynamically changing societies. Singular grants have been a vital component of the practice's Training and Research Programs since their 2005 introduction. This year, to commemorate the firm's twenty-fifth anniversary, multiple grants will be conferred.

This is the third year that Living Steel has been organizing this competition. Last year has yielded very interesting entries and we hope that this year's crop will be equally as interesting as their predecessors.
The organizer is calling this year for the ingeneous creation of affordable, energy efficient housing that minimizes climate change emissions and withstands extremes weather conditions.

The Interieur Foundation organises its nineteenth consecutive prototype competition: the INTERIEUR 08 Design Competition, formerly known as ‘Design for Europe’. Centred on three thematic subjects, it focuses on new, functional, creative and contemporary prototypes.
An international jury will include, amongst others, designers Louise Campbell (DK) and Adam Goodrum (AU), Philips Senior Creative Director Oscar Peña (CO/NL) and captains of industry and CEOs Marnick Smessaert (BE) and Alasdhair Willis (UK). They will examine the entries and decide on the deserving winners. Eleven prominent companies are sponsoring prizes to a total value of 35,000 euro.
Apart from the honours, the prize money and the nominations, the international competition is also the ideal platform for budding designers to be discovered. All entries will be on display during the 21st Interieur Biennale, where they will be seen by potential manufacturers, professional visitors and the general public.
