The American Institute of Architects (AIA) will hold today a webinar for the profession on the impact of the mammoth health reform legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23.

The new health care law will change the way many AIA members, from sole proprietors to large firm employees, receive medical care. This webinar will explore what the new law means for architects, their families and their firms. Among the questions to be addressed:
·        Will architects need to change the insurance they already have?
·        Will their premiums increase or decrease?
·        Will firms be penalized if they don’t follow the rules?
·        What is a “Cadillac” healthcare plan?

With the ink still barely dry on this legislation, the webinar will feature experts at the center of the debate as they separate fact from fiction about what the legislation means to AIA members.
Speakers will include:

·        Karishma Page, attorney, and Britt Sandler, health policy coordinator, both from K&L Gates, an international law firm.
·        Tom Dawson and Naveen Parmar, tax and health care counsel from the House Small Business Committee.

The free one-hour webinar begins at 1 p.m. eastern time on Wednesday, May 19, and is exclusively for AIA members. It will be moderated by Andrew Goldberg, Senior Director, Federal Relations at the American Institute of Architects. The webinar will be archived for later review.
