From October 14th – 17th, over 200 exhibitors will gather under the roof of Vancouver’s new convention centre for Western Canada’s residential design event: Interior Design Show West (IDSwest). In addition to highlighting interior designers, architects, and design-focused products and services, this year’s show will also feature presentations from Canadian Design Celebrity Sarah Richardson, host of Sarah’s House on HGTV, as well as a student design feature, a ‘made in BC’ complete living unit, a local design challenge, and the second annual installation of Designing Inside the Box.
From what began in 2004 as Design Vancouver, IDSwest has grown into one of the West Coast’s largest design events. Featuring some of the top architectural, interior, and landscape design firms in the country and numerous retailers showcasing quality products and services, the show provides a forum for both trade and consumers alike to explore design in a contemporary context through public workshops, presentations and innovative special features.

Designing Inside the Box 2010 - Responsibly Designing Inside the Box A highlight of IDSwest in 2009, this second annual feature will challenge six of British Columbia's premiere design and architectural firms (IDIBC Member firms) to construct an eight-foot square installation that demonstrates and defines the idea of responsible design. This year’s participants include: False Creek Design Group, Kasian Architecture, Ledingham Design, MCM Interiors, Omicron and Jim Toy RID.
Design Challenge 2010 - Get CoRkEd Each year, IDSwest puts the creativity of local designers to the test by challenging them to construct a unique application showcasing ingenuity via a pre-selected theme, material and concept. This year, the 2010 Design Challenge is mixing a little wine with a lot of design. Seven selected designers have been provided with 1500 wine bottle corks to produce an original design using this formerly fabricated material.
BC Designs BC Designs will celebrate British Columbia’s thriving design sector in the largest feature space IDSwest has produced to date. Housed within a pre-built Preform structure, a technologically advanced home will be the foundation, and the interior will showcase progressive designs. True to its name, every staged item within this 800 square foot structure will be related to BC design.
Studio North Studio North is IDSwest's hub for introducing the next generation of designers to the West Coast design scene. These rising stars will showcase their very best within a 50 square foot space on the show floor.
