FALLINGWATER Edited by Lynda Waggoner
Beyond the objective imposed by the marketers, the architects focused on the functional aspects of the space, fulfilling the various needs of the passengers using these spaces before getting on a plane. For the business passengers, the architects implemented private meeting rooms, informal meeting areas with virtual divisions, Wi-Fi and support areas. Other passengers benefit from recreation and entertainment areas, such as the lounges for a game of dominos or cards, a small massage room, and a beauty-hairdresser’s salon. The architects wanted to produce a more sustainable design. They used recycled material as building material. The energy consumption, compared to similar spaces, is reduced by around 50%. Openings in the ceiling let natural light inside the lounge.
