A-Cero_Vivienda-06A-cero Architecture describes the design of this house as “The maximum expression of minimalism”. The house is situated in the upscale neighbourhood of “La Finca” in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), within an exclusive housing development, an area with wide green spaces, lakes and spectaculars houses, and most if them actually designed by A-cero.

A-Cero_Vivienda-01A-Cero_Vivienda-02A-Cero_Vivienda-05The luxurious residence is composed of rectilinear volumes, straight lines and simple shapes. The exterior is cladded with Travertine marble interjected with a generous amount of fenestration that helps in bringing a healthy dose of natural sunlight indoor.

A-Cero_Vivienda-10While adapting the house to its sloping of the site, A-cero distributes the functions of this 1,600 m2 (17,000 sq ft) house on three floors including basement within a typical pattern; The garage and service area are in the basement, the public spaces (lounge, dining room, living room…) on the first floor, while bedrooms and other private rooms are in the high floor.

Neat design & well done construction. Too high on maintenance & one too many water features for a house. Looks more like an office.

you wouldn't feel like a rat in a glorified maze? i mean, that's a plethora of right angles. i love (conversely) how Gaudi kept continuity with natural forms. but, you know...it's not like i would refuse to live in a glorified maze.. so long as there's bits of goodies to discover in every corner.

Minimalism or Sterile?
written by Patrick, May 01, 2010
I'm big on minimalism and unclutteredness, but this house looks sterile, uninviting, and cold.
