With its upper level hovering dramatically over the water, the Institute of Contemporary Art offers its visitors, a rich and dynamic visual experience. The building deals with the challenging concept of offering both interactive public areas and intimate private spaces within a single unified entity. As explained by Elizabeth Diller: “The design of the ICA negotiates between two competing objectives: to perform as a dynamic civic building filled with public and social activities, and as a contemplative space providing individual visitors with intimate experiences with contemporary art. The "public" building is built from the ground up; the "intimate" building, from the sky down ».

With undeniable talent, Zaha Hadid Architects keep pushing the envelope of architecture, while injecting innovative ideas that make their projects more dynamic and fluid.
A perfect example is this recently designed museum, located in Au-Di, Taipei county, northern part of Taiwan. This dynamic site is situated on the end corner of a steep sloping hill.
The form harmonizes with the surrounding landscape and is embedded into its natural topography. The structural system of the conic walls give a distinct character to the inside of the museum. The interstitial spaces of each conic wall create the fluid circulation system linking all the spaces from exterior landscape to interior museum.

The Marcia and John Price Museum Building at the University of Utah. During the competition stage for the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Machado Silvetti’s approach to the new museum required acknowledging and exploiting its privileged location at the terminus of the campus mall and its unique condition as a freestanding artifact seen against the Wasatch Mountain Range. Given the museum’s programmatic intentions, they decided early on to make the proposed Grand Gallery the centerpiece of the project, its most powerful and representative space.
