KSV Krüger Schuberth Vandreike operates in the field of tension between architecture, design and communication. Since the opening of the studio in 1990 its scope of activities has widened from architecture and urban planning to include design and communication. The constant social, economic and cultural changes present architecture with new, holistic tasks, which demand a high degree of flexibility and an interdisciplinary approach.

The autonomous province of Bolzano in Alto Adige, sought to join the ranks of international museum metropolises through a striking building. Consequently, early 2001 the province organized an international competition for a Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. KSV Krüger Schubeth Vandreike asserted itself over 284 other offices to win first prize. The architects proposed a museum building of striking simplicity, which embedded in heterogeneous surroundings claims its own highly individual identity. In 2005, the office was commissioned by the autonomous province of Bolzano Alto Adige.

MUSEION, the name of the new museum building in Bolzano opened in 2008, comes from the ancient Greek. It also represents a program for the presentation and mediation of art in all its expressive forms. The resulting architecture is a convincing ensemble of museum, studio building and bridge as a public setting for art.
