MUSEION, the name of the new museum building in Bolzano opened in 2008, comes from the ancient Greek. It also represents a program for the presentation and mediation of art in all its expressive forms. The resulting architecture is a convincing ensemble of museum, studio building and bridge as a public setting for art.

This book describes how the initial idea developed into the realization of this architecturally and technically remarkable building with all its details, such as the media façade or the curving double bridge. Including many often very personal contributions, this book is addressed to all those with an interest in art and architecture.

The architecture of the museum strikes a balance between its form-givers with no compromise. It is a highly identifiable building that is well integrated within its urban environment. The enclosure provides both privacy and selective transparency that allows the people passing by to get a peak inside the building. Finally, the internal spaces are both remarkable and flexible, capable to adapting to the different requirement of upcoming exhibitions.
