WHO: The American Institute of Architects Diversity Recognition Program WHAT: The AIA has extended the deadline for submissions for the AIA Diversity Recognition Program. Submissions are now due by Wednesday, February 23. The program seeks submissions featuring exemplary efforts to diversify the architecture profession. Program Lauds Efforts to Create a More Diverse and Inclusive Profession As stated in its mission: The Diversity Recognition Program seeks to recognize architects for exemplary commitment and contributions to diversifying the profession of architecture. A diversified profession mirrors the society it serves; celebrates and encourages the contributions of all architects, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical ability, religious belief, geographic location, or practice; encourages alternatives to traditional practice models; and provides opportunities for a greater variety of individuals to become architects, take advantage of leadership opportunities, and influence our practices and our professional lives.The jury will select up to 12 submissions as diversity best practices meriting the following recognition: - AIA Diversity Recognition Program Award - Profiled in AIArchitect and on the AIA Diversity Web page - Inclusion in the AIA Architects Knowledge Resource - Acknowledgment at the AIA National Convention: Diversity Recognition Program Awards Presentation and Diversity Recognition Program Exhibit.
