Skanska USA Building Inc. announced today the completion of the Methodist Stone Oak Hospital located in the fast growing Northwest region on Sonterra Boulevard in San Antonio, Texas.
The hospital, designed by HOK Architects, is the first new facility built in the area in more than a decade. The facility holds 132 beds with an overall master plan that allows for as many as 350 beds.
The hospital, which has been coined as the “hospital of the future,”
will open to patients on March 9, 2009. The new design and
construction allows visitors to move quickly through the outpatient
service mall entrance. This entrance provices easy access to “portals
of care” which include women’s services, admissions, treatment and
testing, cardiology and same day surgery. Other hospital futuristic
features include easier hospital navigation, specially designed waiting
rooms and encanted patient rooms that enable nurses to see into the
room from their station.

“Methodist is a leader in the healthcare industry and we are proud to
be their partner on this hospital,” said Brian Freeman, Skanska’s Texas
Area General Manager. “Skanska’s deep expertise and knowledge of the
healthcare sector enabled us to work closely with the design team to
outline potential issues and solve problems so we could deliver the
project on schedule to Methodist and the residents of San Antonio.”
