Linear House is located on a sixteen acre farm on Salt Spring Island, an island in the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. The property is bisected from east to west by a long row of mature Douglas fir trees. There is a gentle slope falling across the site from south to north. The south half of the site is an orchard containing a variety of fruit trees; the north half of the property is a hay field. There was an existing cottage on the property which has been sold and relocated to a neighbouring property. The existing barn, garage and studio buildings remain....

The site for this single family residence is a steep north-facing slope in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains, located west of the city of Tucson in Arizona, with commanding views of city lights and the surrounding mountains. The architects, Ibarra Rosano, wanted to design a structure that would appear to grow out of the rocky desert hillside without dominating the landscape. e house is set within a semi-rural context, some 20 km from the Hungarian capital of Budapest. The slightly sloping site has a south-easterly orientation, lying at the foot of the Szarvas-hegy (meaning Deer-hill). Its fabulous panorama is crowned by the view of the river Danube. It is the residence of Lajos Kuknyó, architect and principal partner at the Architema Studio. It reflects his interpretation of modernist design from the 1920-30-s period, with the interplay of straight geometrical volumes, and intersection of vertical massing and horizontal areas such as terraces, while using a predominantly white colour palette..
