The project is a residence located in Southampton, New York.
The Centrifugal Villa is arranged around a hollow center, as if the heart of the house had somehow fallen outside its body. The string of subsequent spaces in its interior provide a comprehension of the whole by sacrificing their individual geometric cohesiveness to the fractured configuration of the entire composition.
The experience of the interior is characterized by constantly shifting vanishing points, at the place of their collision in each crease of the plan, large openings cutting dormer scoops on the roof, centrifugally release the views out to the surrounding landscape.

This project constitutes New York based OBRA Architects contribution to the Ordos 100 projects, a development for 100 villas set in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. While FAKE Design, Ai Wei Wei studio in Beijing, developed the masterplan for the 100 parcels of land and will curate the project, while Herzog and de Meuron selected the 100 architects to participate. The collection of 100 Architects hail from 27 countries around the globe.
 The Ordos 100 projects are challenged to go beyond the individuality of the villa in itself and achieve, in the togetherness of all 100 villas, an urban totality with a coherent sense of whole. The project suggests turning the matrix of streets and alleys containing the 100 villas into a recognizable public space with clearly defined spatial and material qualities.
